Feeling the pinch from BigDaddy? Kinderstart.com are!

Have recent Google algorithm shake-ups got your pages dropping like flies?

Then why not sue Google? Kinderstart.com are trying to do exactly that. Out-Law.com is reporting that the US Start-up is attempting to sue Google because their PageRank was reset, causing a 70% drop in traffic and a subsequent loss in revenue.

Rather improbably, Kinderstarts basis for its court case is that Google de-ranked them because they were a direct Google competitor and wanted them out of the way. Kinderstart have a site search and are therefore competing with Google!

Its a nice try but I would be surprised to see it going anywhere and if it does then the big G may have some big problems as more and more sites with search functionality begin to sue!

On a slightly different note, this court case can only be more negative PR (thats public relations, not PageRank!) for Google in the US. Here in the UK Google are still maintaining their “don’t be evil” ethic, but I get the impression that some evil (or at least a bit of nastiness) may be showing itself stateside.

The Register have also posted the story here and John Battelle has this to say on the subject.
